OceanSMART is a division of Oceaneering. It was acquired in 2018 and has now 60 employees in five different locations: San Diego, Houston, London, Stavanger and Bangalore. 

Job content

Responsible for backlog grooming and transforming business requirements into epics and user stories that align with the product strategy. Facilitate developer consumption of user stories by facilitating knowledge transfer.  

  • Deliver the OceanSMART Roadmap
  • Elicits and analyzes detailed business requirements with clients to produce workable development solutions that are both in line with client requests and suitable for the application
  • Takes initiative to identify potential development risks, generate solutions to mitigate those risks, and lead the team to resolution
  • Facilitates meetings with internal and external customers to elicit requirements, share solutions, and report on development risks
  • Creates, organizes, and maintains design documentation, wireframes, user stories with acceptance criteria, and development tasks
  • Develops and maintains processes that govern requirements gathering, documentation, and other analytical requirements
  • Performs acceptance testing of developed solutions in accordance with documented acceptance criteria
  • Serves as liaison between client and remote development team


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
  • Three (3) to seven (7) years experience with business operations or systems development
  • Strong familiarity with wireframing and Project Management software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with requirements elicitation techniques 


  • Strong understanding of application development lifecycle
  • Strong familiarity with wireframing and PM software
  • Strong analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong adaptability and capacity to work in fast-paced environments
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills

  • Familiarity with requirements elicitation techniques

  • Familiarity with Maritime operations
